The State of Nevada will soon be on-net at the NevadaNAP.  This will provide archiving services and ultimately will become an excellent interconnection point for easy on campus cross-connections with other agencies on the campus.

It is expected that the DoIT group will begin installations soon.

Those of you already on campus that may be paying for local loops to interconnect to the State may consider reviewing the term on those commitments and may consider grooming those connections to tie directly to the State on campus.

The State will also save money buy avoiding the large outlay of upgrading a datacenter of their own, as well as, saving a money on the protected circuits between southern and northern Nevada by avoiding local loops to the long haul provider(s).

This is exactly why it makes sense for us to work together.  We will most certainly find ways to save money and widen the pipes between all of us.
